Acupuncture Relieves Leg Pain, Naturally

Woman in blue track suit stretches out after getting acupuncture for sciatica and leg pain.

Get Fast Relief from Leg Pain with Acupuncture!

Are you looking for a holistic approach for relief from sciatica and leg pain?  Acupuncture works!

Sciatica specifically describes pain associated with the sciatic nerve root. It usually affects the lower back, gluteal region and leg, sometimes radiating to the lower leg and foot. Acupuncture relieves leg pain, naturally, without any side effects!

Here’s what you may be experiencing:

  • Pain running down the back, side and front of the leg
  • The pain is worse when you sit
  • There are burning or tingling sensations
  • There is constant hip and gluteal pain
  • There is weakness, numbness or pins and needles

The discomfort is experienced is due to impingement or inflammation of the nerve. The sciatic nerve passes down the back of the leg, but it is also common for people to have nerve pain radiating from the back, down the side or front of the leg. This pain is sometimes referred to as sciatica, although technically it follows a different nerve pathway.

Acupuncture is a good treatment option for relieving leg pain and sciatica.

There are several acupuncture channels passing from the area of the lower back and hip down the legs. These often follow the pathways of pain described by patients and can be used to help to relieve leg pain.

Acupuncture has been found to have an anti inflammatory effect in the body. It works on local muscle and nerve tissue to promote circulation of blood and immune system modulation. It has been found to have an effect to reduce the sensitivity of pain preceptors in the brain. Acupuncture is also understood to promote levels of serotonin and noradrenaline which help with pain control and speed up the repair of nerves.

Acupuncture relieves leg pain but also works to relieve stress and pain throughout the whole body!

Get Fast Relief from Arthritis Pain with Acupuncture

Couple Riding Bicycles Free Of Arthritis Pain

Be free from arthritis pain with acupuncture!

Acupuncture takes away arthritis pain, and can improve mobility naturally!

Chances are, someone you care about suffers with arthritis pain. Arthritis is one of the most pervasive diseases in the United States and is the leading cause of disability. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one out of every three Americans (an estimated seventy million people) is affected.

Arthritis is a disease that affects the joints of the body. While medicine has identified over 100 different forms of arthritis, there are some symptoms that are common in every variety. These include pain, stiffness and inflammation, while extreme cases can even result in physical disfiguration. Other non-localized symptoms can include fatigue, insomnia, weight loss and fever. In most cases arthritis is limited to one part of the body, typically the hands, feet, knees, hips or any of the major joints. Arthritis is also seen in auto-immune diseases like Lupus, Rheumatoid arthritis and Scleroderma and as a manifestation of problems in body chemistry as in Gout.

While most forms of arthritis are considered non-preventable, you can lessen your risk by remaining physically active, sticking to a healthy diet and maintaining a healthy weight. The earlier in the arthritis process the disease is detected and treatment is started, the better the outlook.

For most people, arthritis pain and inflammation cannot be avoided as the body ages. In fact, most people over the age of fifty show some signs of arthritis as joints degenerate over time. Fortunately, arthritis can often be managed with acupuncture.

Acupuncture decreases pain by increasing the release of endorphins (chemicals that block pain). Many acu-points are near nerves. When stimulated, these nerves cause a dull ache or feeling of fullness in the muscle. The stimulated muscle sends a message to the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord), causing the release of endorphins (morphine-like chemicals produced in our own bodies during times of pain or stress). These endorphins, along with other neurotransmitters (body chemicals that modify nerve impulses), block the message of pain from being delivered up to the brain.

All joint pain occurs within the external aspect of the body, along the acupuncture channels. However, the condition is always accompanied by a deeper, systemic imbalance within the body. For treatment to be effective, both the manifestation (the joint pain) and the root cause need to be treated. Acupuncture restores harmony to the body, and thereby corrects the imbalance. If the systemic imbalance is not too severe and/or the patient is strong, acupuncture may offer a cure. However, if the arthritic process is very deep-rooted, acupuncture may only be able to offer pain relief and help prevent further progression of the disease. Regardless, with acupuncture treatments, improvements are a sure thing.

Less pain, greater mobility and range of motion, as well as improved strength come quickly with a series of treatments. Get back to enjoying life again!

In Pain from Winter Shoveling? Acupuncture Brings Relief!

man with shovel 1
Are you in pain after shoveling out from the latest storm of the century?
Acupuncture to the rescue!

There’s been an awful lot of shoveling and maneuvering of snowy and icy sidewalks lately, and the body sure can suffer. Back pain is one of the top reasons people seek medical treatment. What causes it? Some of the top causes are sprains which can occur when one or more of the ligaments in the back is overstretched and strains, which is a rip or tear in the muscle caused by sudden force.

This can happen from an injury, poor posture, or improper lifting, such as improperly hefting too big of a pile of Mother Nature’s bounty.

Back problems are also, by far, the primary reason for appointments with acupuncturists.

Back pain limits range of motion and complicates daily activities. Some back pain is accompanied by tingling and burning and acupuncture treatments work wonderfully for those conditions as well. Acupuncture can effectively help acute and chronic back pain and many other issues, like neck pain, naturally.

The neck is more subject to injury than any other portion of the spine. This is because of its position and range of motion, and because it plays such a vital role in the supporting the head. There are so many tendons and connecting tissue structures that enable the movement of the neck and arms. In addition, and we also sometimes store our stress there.

Neck pain can be mild enough so that it is a mere annoyance, or severe enough that it interferes with our quality of life.

Acupuncture is very helpful and it’s quick. Often relief is felt at the first treatment, and usually only a few are necessary, unless longstanding injuries are the cause, in which case more treatments will be needed.

In addition, acupuncture is good at reducing the tension in the neck tendons and muscles. It can help relieve the pain and tightness in the neck by increasing the circulation of blood and energy, and it can also help to relieve stress. Acupuncture has a relaxing effect on many people and some even fall asleep during the treatment.

Some tips for healthy and happy shoveling:

  • Push the snow, don’t lift it.
  • In terms of your shovel, use a smaller one; the less snow you move at once, the safer you’ll be.
  • Don’t start shoveling while snow is still falling (it’s colder, so you’ll put additional strain on your heart)
  • Breathe during the exercise; keep checking yourself to make sure you’re not accidentally holding your breath.

Post Holiday Blues? Acupuncture Brings Emotional Balance

Beat the Winter Doldrums with Acupuncture!

Don’t suffer from depression. Bring your body and emotions back into balance with acupuncture!

The holidays can be filled with a dizzying array of events, visitors, travel and endless shopping trips. For many people, it can also be a time filled with sadness and anxiety. Sometimes it seems too difficult to sit back, relax and enjoy the beauty of the season — stress of any kind can build up, and physical manifestations can take place.

Tension and stress affect different people in different ways. For some, it manifests as emotional tension. Energy can stagnate in the chest area, and heart palpitations and nervousness can occur, as well as feelings of anxiety or feeling distant emotionally.

In other people, the build up and stagnation of energy can cause muscle tension, pain, spasm and headaches. If the tension isn’t relieved, and is allowed to become chronic, it can lead to habitual anger, migraines and high blood pressure, among other symptoms.

Stress, anxiety and depression can cause a disruption in the flow of vital energy, or Qi, through the body. These energetic imbalances can throw off the immune system or cause symptoms of pain, sleep disturbances, abnormal digestion, headaches, and menstrual irregularities, and, over time, more serious illnesses can develop.

Acupuncture treatments can directly affect the way your body manages stress and your mental and physical health. Acupuncture can be very helpful for those who suffer from depression as treatments can bring the body to a more balanced state.

Acupuncture is Effective for Insomnia - Visit our office in Wilton, Bethel or Fairfield, CT

Acupuncture is used to unblock energy, and move it through channels in the body and either balance it or repel it from the body via the meridian system. This causes energy to flow freer in the channels of the body, allowing the person to feel more relaxed, balanced, and able to focus.

Acupuncture treatments often have the quality of sleep and deep relaxation. In fact, many patients report falling asleep during the session, and enjoy a good night’s sleep following treatment.

Acupuncture is a fantastic way to release built up stress, and head off tension before it starts to cause trouble.

Enjoy the holiday season with acupuncture!

Acupuncture Brings the Gift of Stress and Pain Relief

If you’re feeling ho-hum this holiday season — get your stress under wraps with acupuncture!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — and it can also be a time of extra commitments, nonstop activity, and pressure to get it all done. This can result in a lot of stress both mental and physical.

Hang on to your Santa hats! There is a gentle and effective way to handle this stress — acupuncture!

Everyone feels stressed occasionally, but when it continues for a long time or gets overwhelming it can take a real toll on your health. The immune system is particularly sensitive to its effects, and the holidays coincide with the cold and flu season. This means that ongoing stress can leave you vulnerable to any number of illnesses that no one would want as a gift.

Acupuncture works to strengthen your immunity. Acupuncture heals imbalances in your immune system and also restores energy channels that have become disrupted. When these channels are open, the immune system functions at an optimal level and your body stays healthy.

Acupuncture helps you manage stress and anxiety, and relieve insomnia.  Let that stress melt away like snow from a salted sidewalk! Acupuncture is extremely relaxing and most people fall asleep after the needles are inserted. Patients often report feeling a sense of calm and quiet energy after their treatments, as well a great night’s sleep.

Acupuncture relieves pain. Stress can have a real impact on your physical well-being. Many people report increased pain and discomfort in the upper back, neck, low back or other joints during this time of year. Studies show that acupuncture helps to relieve osteoarthritis, sciatica, neck, back and shoulder pain, migraines and headaches.

Pain relief, stress relief and an immunity boost — acupuncture is a great gift this holiday season!

Want Gentle Relief from Back Pain? Get Acupuncture!

Looking for effective relief from back pain this Summer? Get acupuncture!

Did you overdo it while weeding your garden, playing a friendly game of neighborhood football, or just carrying groceries? More than 80 percent of our population will experience lower back pain at some point in their lives.

The top causes of back pain are sprains from overstretching back ligaments, and strains, (a muscle rip or tear) caused by sudden force. Sprains and strains can happen from poor posture, improper lifting or lack of proper muscle warm up prior to exercise.

In many cases back problems develop over time — from sitting incorrectly at a desk or steering wheel, or repetitive tasks, such as heavy lifting. Back pain limits range of motion and complicates daily activities, not to mention that it just hurts! There’s no need to suffer any longer.

Back problems are the number one reason why people get acupuncture treatments, and there’s good reason. Acupuncture can effectively help acute and chronic back pain and many other pain related issues naturally — without medication.

Acupuncture is an ancient, time-tested form of therapy that has exceptionally few side effects. Modern research shows that not only is acupuncture effective in relieving back pain, it can also treat other systems in the body like the nervous system, endocrine and immune systems, cardiovascular system, and digestive system.

With acupuncture, we look at your whole health history and tailor a treatment specifically to your needs. The root cause of the pain will be treated.

Your energy pathways will be opened up, and your body will begin to be able to heal itself, muscles will relax, reducing the pain. Many patients feel immediate improvements.

The best part? The treatment is safe, natural, effective and drug-free.
