Chronic Fatigue is Exhausting! Acupuncture Helps Put the Spring in Your Step

Feel refreshed with acupuncture!

Feel refreshed with acupuncture!

Don’t let fatigue bring life to a slow crawl! Get acupuncture!

Fatigue is a very common complaint that brings people to an acupuncturist. A few of the basic reasons for fatigue are stress, not getting enough sleep, poor dietary choices, nutritional deficiencies, being on the go all of the time, and/or too little exercise.

There’s two different kinds of fatigue. Physical fatigue is indicated by a general lethargy or listlessness, while mental fatigue is characterized by a feeling of drowsiness and an inability to pay attention. Acupuncture is extraordinarily helpful with both physical and mental fatigue, as well as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)  — when the tiredness and heavy feeling won’t stop, and headaches and pain are added to the mix of exhaustion.

CFS can happen over time or suddenly come about. People who get CFS over time get more and more tired over weeks or months, suddenly feel fine one day and then feel extremely tired the next. The extreme tiredness may come and go, and in some cases the extreme tiredness never goes away.

There is no reason to suffer needlessly from fatigue, and instead feel relaxed, energized and feel less painAcupuncture is very helpful in the treatment of the symptoms as well as in the underlying causes of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Fight Fatigue with Acupuncture!

Fight Fatigue with Acupuncture!

The most noticeable benefits of acupuncture for CFS include:

  • Less pain
  • Better sleep
  • Relaxation
  • Enhanced immune system
  • Better overall health

Acupuncture helps to improve fatigue immediately, after the first treatment. Often patients remark that for even other primary concerns, fatigue was the first improvement they noticed.

Acupuncture stimulates the nervous system and cause the release of neurotransmitters. Stimulation of certain acupuncture points has been shown to affect areas of the brain that are known to reduce sensitivity to pain and stress, as well as promoting relaxation and deactivating the ‘analytical’ brain, which is responsible for insomnia. Acupuncture also increases nighttime melatonin secretions, and this means better sleep!

Less pain, better sleep, and stress relief — let acupuncture work for you!

Depressed this Holiday Season? Acupuncture for Emotional Balance

Enjoy the Season with Acupuncture!

Enjoy the Season with Acupuncture!

Don’t suffer from depression. Bring your body and emotions back into balance with acupuncture!

The holidays can be filled with a dizzying array of events, visitors, travel and endless shopping trips. For many people, it can also be a time filled with sadness and anxiety. Sometimes it seems too difficult to sit back, relax and enjoy the beauty of the season — stress of any kind can build up, and physical manifestations can take place.

Tension and stress affect different people in different ways. For some, it manifests as emotional tension. Energy can stagnate in the chest area, and heart palpitations and nervousness can occur, as well as feelings of anxiety or feeling distant emotionally.

In other people, the build up and stagnation of energy can cause muscle tension, pain, spasm and headaches. If the tension isn’t relieved, and is allowed to become chronic, it can lead to habitual anger, migraines and high blood pressure, among other symptoms.

Stress, anxiety and depression can cause a disruption in the flow of vital energy, or Qi, through the body. These energetic imbalances can throw off the immune system or cause symptoms of pain, sleep disturbances, abnormal digestion, headaches, and menstrual irregularities, and, over time, more serious illnesses can develop.

Acupuncture treatments can directly affect the way your body manages stress and your mental and physical health. Acupuncture can be very helpful for those who suffer from depression as treatments can bring the body to a more balanced state.

Get a great night's sleep with acupuncture!

Get a great night’s sleep with acupuncture!

Acupuncture is used to unblock energy, and move it through channels in the body and either balance it or repel it from the body via the meridian system. This causes energy to flow freer in the channels of the body, allowing the person to feel more relaxed, balanced, and able to focus.

Acupuncture treatments often have the quality of sleep and deep relaxation. In fact, many patients report falling asleep during the session, and enjoy a good night’s sleep following treatment.

Acupuncture is a fantastic way to release built up stress, and head off tension before it starts to cause trouble.

Winter’s Coming! Strengthen Your Immunity!

Boost Your Immunity with Acupuncture!

Boost Your Immunity with Acupuncture!

Want to increase your immunity? Try acupuncture!

Feeling sick of the cold weather already? Many Americans believe that catching two or three colds a year is normal. They endure the symptoms, often relieving them with over-the-counter medications that can cause serious health injury. They also take cold and flu shots, which can actually cause illness themselves.

But did you know that you can live your life entirely cold-free without taking anything harmful into your system? Your immune system can heal itself the second an intruder sneaks in, preventing a cold from ever happening.

How does it work? Acupuncture acts on the body’s own subtle energy system to clear obstructions and maximize the flow of energy and blood through the healing mechanisms of the body, including the nervous, endocrine and immune systems. This enhances the body’s own innate healing capacity and leads to an overall increase in energy and vitality.

But that’s not all. Treatments often bring about a sense of wonderful relaxation. It has been proven that such deep relaxation helps regulate the autonomic nervous system, which can help reduce stress and anxiety, and expand a sense of well-being.

Acupuncture works to strengthen your immunity.  Acupuncture heals imbalances in your immune system and also restores energy channels that have become disrupted. When these channels are open, the immune system functions at an optimal level and your body stays healthy. Researchers have found that acupuncture enhances the production of natural killer cells, the body’s defense mechanisms against viruses and bacteria. Acupuncture also regulates the activity of white blood cells, which also fight against infection and allergic reactions.

Get relief from pain, depression symptoms and more with acupuncture!

Acupuncture can address the weaknesses in the body in the same way a vaccine addresses weaknesses; by boosting energy and giving the body what it needs to strengthen itself. Acupuncture also helps the brain increase the body’s level of T-cells; cells which destroy bacteria and harmful viruses in the body.

During cold and flu season, particularly for people susceptible to colds, it’s a good idea to boost your immune system every few weeks with acupuncture. The great benefits are that besides avoiding illness, you will see numerous positive side effects, such as a deeper sleep, clearer skin and a more relaxed and positive attitude. Take that, nasty germs!

Acupuncture also aids with pain relief, easing depression, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and many other ailments. With acupuncture you’re ready for winter!

Reduce Bloating and Digestive Issues with Acupuncture

Acupuncture brings relief from gas and other digestive issues.

Acupuncture brings relief from gas and other digestive issues.

Soothe bloating and other stomach discomforts with acupuncture!

We all have a tendency to overindulge when celebrating with family or friends, or with tempting leftover Halloween candy.

If you feel bloated, you may be receiving a signal that the body is not digesting food properly. Sometimes poor digestion results from intolerance to a specific food, such as gluten or lactose. Other causes include irritable bowel syndrome, not drinking enough water, eating high-fat foods and stress.

If indigestion, gas or bloating bother you more than just an occasional episode from overeating, acupuncture treatments can help!

Acupuncture heals the channels of the entire digestive system. It eases symptoms and discomfort immediately, relieving indigestion, stomach ache and acid reflux, bloating and constipation.

Acupuncture works immediately to harmonize, balance, and strengthen your digestive system. Acupuncture may also benefit patients who find their symptoms are brought on or worsened by stress, anxiety and emotional issues. Acupuncture helps to calm the nerves, resulting in a relaxed body, and a happy, healthy digestive system. It’s also a great immunity boost!

Don’t suffer from digestive discomfort. Try acupuncture!

Prevention can also be helpful. Here’s a few tips to avoid bloating.

Go for a short walk after meals -- it's good for your digestion!

A short walk after meals is good for your digestion!

  • Eat slowly! Take time to enjoy your food — you avoid swallowing air, which can lead to gas retention.
  • Avoid salt – an extra salty meal may lead to water retention, which causes bloating.
  • Avoid fatty foods – fats take longer for the body to process, hindering digestion.
  • Avoid carbonated drinks – as you consume these drinks, carbon dioxide gas builds up in your body. This can quickly lead to bloating, especially if you drink them quickly. Plain water is best.
  • Go for a walk – a short walk can alleviate bloating after a meal.

Boost Your Energy with Acupuncture!

Get Energized This Autumn with Acupuncture!

Get Energized This Autumn with Acupuncture!

Feeling your spirits drag with the change of the clock?
Acupuncture boosts your energy!

If you feel tired and drained, you are not alone. “Lack of energy” is one of the top five complaints that acupuncturists hear.

There are a number of conditions that may be responsible for your fatigue. These include anemia, thyroid issues, low blood sugar, and chronic fatigue syndrome. However, if these conditions have been ruled out, you may have a tough time getting to the bottom of why you’re so tired.

Acupuncture is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which works on the principle that all the organs in the body have an energy (Qi). Energy travels out of the organs and connects to your skin through channels called meridians. The meridians are connected all over your body.

There are many reasons why your Qi supplies get depleted. Poor diet, digestive issues, illness, working too hard, stress and strong emotions, and even chronic pain can all deplete your energy. If the energies become out of balance through stress, overwork or excess partying, you may experience low energy levels, digestive disorders or not being able to sleep properly.

Acupuncture works to clear obstructions and maximize the flow of energy and blood through the healing mechanisms of the body, including the nervous, endocrine and immune systems. This enhances the body’s own innate healing capacity and leads to an overall increase in energy and vitality.

Four Reasons (at least) Why You Need Acupuncture This Fall

Stay happy and healthy this Fall with Acupuncture!

Acupuncture is great for the whole family!

Fall is here! Here’s four ways that Acupuncture can boost your health!

Would you like to relieve allergies, boost your immunity, and ease seasonal depression or anxiety?

Try Acupuncture!

About 26 million Americans endure chronic seasonal allergies, while the number of people with milder symptoms may be as high as 40 million, according to the National Center for Health Statistics.

Acupuncture is one of the major holistic therapies used for thousands of years to address the underlying energetic relationships in the body that makes those allergic reactions happen. Acupuncture treatments can give immediate relief from the symptoms, and further, it can address the variety of underlying causes.

Best of all, acupuncture is a great way to bring allergy relief and avoid the negative side effects that allergy medications can have.

In addition to allergy relief, acupuncture can boost your immunity. Acupuncture heals imbalances in your immune system and also restores energy channels that have become disrupted. When these channels are open, the immune function functions at an optimal level and your body stays healthy.

Acupuncture enhances the body’s defense mechanisms against viruses and bacteria. It also regulates the activity of white blood cells, which also fight against infection and allergic reactions.

That’s not all that acupuncture can help with — third on the list is seasonal depression.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) affects over ten million of us in the United States each year. Acupuncture can be very helpful for those who suffer from seasonal depression as it brings the body to a more balanced state, and even prevents complications.

In addition to depression, acupuncture is a powerful treatment for relieving anxiety. It is highly effective in treating emotional problems, and it also addresses the body, relieving the headaches, upset stomach, muscle aches, insomnia, and irritability that anxiety and stress can cause.

Acupuncture — Soothing Relief from Headaches and Migraines

Enjoy life without headache pain with acupuncture!

Headaches be gone! Acupuncture brings relief to headache and migraine sufferers.

Almost everyone gets a headache at some point in time. A headache can ruin your day, and if you get them often, can really get in the way of your daily life.

Acupuncture has been successfully used to relieve headaches and migraines (as well as their underlying causes) for thousands of years, without the side effects that prescription and over-the-counter drugs can cause. Acupuncture always looks to the underlying causes as well, and thereby can help to prevent any future occurrences.

Headaches fall into three main categories: tension-type, migraine and cervicogenic. A tension headache is the most common (and usually mildest) type of headache, and can be caused by stress, lack of sleep, bad posture or substance withdrawal, including nicotine and caffeine.

Cervicogenic headaches are the most recently diagnosed type of headache and are musculoskeletal in nature. They may be caused by pain in the neck or spine that is transferred to the head.

Migraines relieved with acupuncture!

Migraines relieved with acupuncture!

Last but not least, and perhaps the most debilitating, is migraine.

Migraine is a condition defined by a painful headache and nausea, often accompanied with an increased sensitivity to light and sound, vomiting and a pulsating sensation, which is usually only present in one side of the head. Typically, a migraine can last from a few hours to as long as three days. Approximately 75% of sufferers are female.

Acupuncture to the rescue! Because “headache” is a blanket term for over 200 conditions that fall into multiple classifications, the symptoms (and treatment) depends on the type of headache. Migraines and headaches can be treated preventatively, and a few treatments will clear up most migraine patterns, permanently.

Each person is evaluated individually – history and other symptoms are taken into consideration, so the treatment points will vary. The treatment is painless and gentle.

Reset Your Inner Clock! Acupuncture Brings Relief from Jet Lag

Travel Easy with Acupuncture!

Jet lag? Acupuncture helps you feel like flying again!

Don’t let jet lag ruin the end of a great vacation — Acupuncture helps you feel like flying again!

We’ve all been there. After coming home from traveling, the insomnia, fatigue, disturbed digestion and a loss of appetite can really make you wish for another vacation!

Acupuncture is based on the theory that Qi, the body’s motivating energy, flows in a 24 hour cycle. The body’s functions are tied into this, much the same as the biological clock recognized by Western medicine.

When you travel across time zones, your body clock falls out of sync. Certain organs are more easily affected by changes in time zones, with those associated with sleep, digestion and bowel function the most likely to be affected. In trying to readjust, people often carry out activities, such a eating, exercising or sleeping at a different time than the one dictated by their body clock. This explains why digestive issues and insomnia are the most common symptoms of jet lag. In addition, sitting in one spot for most of the flight can make you feel stiff and sore.

Acupuncture Brings Restful Sleep - Fairfield, CT

Relief from Insomnia with Acupuncture!

Resetting the body clock using acupuncture can help ease jet lag symptoms. Getting a treatment can definitely help restore your equilibrium, and boost your immunity. Acupuncture also stimulates blood flow, making it especially helpful in treating the stiffness and soreness associated with jet lag. The body always feels nice and relaxed afterwards allowing you to have a really good night’s sleep.

You’ll want to get acupuncture within 24 hours or so of landing in order for it to be most effective, but there are steps you can take on your journey to minimize the effect of jet lag:

  • Carry out the appropriate activity for the time zone you are going to.  For example, when you board the plane, if it is the middle of the night in your destination, try and go straight to sleep.
  • Try some relaxation techniques or breathing exercises to reduce tension in your body. Being relaxed will minimize the disruption to your body clock.
  • Staying hydrated is important! Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol.

Acupuncture is a Parent’s Number One Back-to-School Supply

Back to School with Acupuncture!

Back to School with Acupuncture!

Back to school! And back to the stress of helping kids with homework and getting them to school on time. Acupuncture can relieve the stress and help boost your immune system.

Summer’s almost over, and school is about to start — wouldn’t it be nice to know you have all the school supplies you and your family needs? (Including more energy, more focus, less stress and better sleep?)

Sounds like a lot to pack in a lunch box? Of course it does. But it’s not too much to expect from regular acupuncture treatments.

Other than stress relief, one of the biggest benefits of acupuncture is the immunity boost it gives you. The likelihood of either you or your child getting sick when kids head back to school increases significantly. Acupuncture boosts your immune system, which can greatly reduce the risk of coming down with the “Illness of the Week”.

In addition to the immunity boost, many people report having more energy in the hours, days and even weeks after acupuncture treatment. In addition to the surge of physical energy, many people notice improved mental clarity, which is important when exam week comes around, or that big presentation.

Don’t stress out! When those deadlines and tests get a bit overwhelming, acupuncture is great at relieving headaches, (even migraines) as well as reducing anxiety, depression and stress.

Acupuncture is great for student athletes, too!

Acupuncture is great for student athletes, too!

Insomnia is one of the most common complaints by students, teachers, and parents alike, and acupuncture can be highly effective at resolving that as well.

Acupuncture is also great for student athletes! Besides keeping the body healthy, well-documented studies have proven over and over the effects of acupuncture in reduction of pain. This is due in part to the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkiller, along with an increase in blood circulation and lessening of muscle tension.

Relief of pain, stress and anxiety, immunity bolstering, and more energy? Acupuncture gets an A+!
