Fibromyalgia is a medical disorder that is characterized by pain in the muscles and connective tissues. Other associated symptoms can include lack of cognitive function, fatigue, depression, insomnia, joint stiffness, and a disruption of normal bodily functions. Fibromyalgia has a female to male incidence ratio of about 9:1.
No definitive cause for Fibromyalgia has been diagnosed; however most medical experts cite stress, a hormone imbalance and psychological factors as the most likely causes. Maintaining a high level of fitness and a regular sleep regiment has been effective in lessoning the symptoms; in addition, physical therapy, massage and acupuncture are extremely helpful.
Acupuncture will most likely not chase each tender spot, as there are too many! After we do a complete history, and evaluate the tongue and pulses as well, we select individually appropriate point sites that will address the underlying causes. And yes, there will be immediate and quick improvements on the various symptom locations. That is encouraging right away. Here is an example where the ph is low in the body fluids, and will need to be raised (more alkaline) with the proper blend of mineral supplements. When the ph is better, the nerve endings don’t complain so quickly. The treatments are painless, and gentle. Acupuncture is an awesome help.
