Why Haven’t You Tried Acupuncture? Let’s Explain the Fears Away…

Image

Curious about Acupuncture?

Acupuncture. You’re been reading about it. Some of your friends and family may have tried it. You’ve been thinking about picking up the phone…but there’s something keeping you back. Are you interested in trying acupuncture but really want some questions answered? Problem solved! Read on…

First and most pressing…Does it hurt?

Here’s the initial caveat — every person is different, and can have different reactions. The actual sensations caused by the needles vary. Some people feel a little pain as needles are inserted, but most patients feel no pain at all. The needles are tiny, just a bit larger than a cat’s whisker or human hair.

The depth of needle insertion varies depending on the area of the body to be treated. For example, a fleshier area of the body may require a different needling technique. Typically, needles are inserted at depths ranging from 1/8” to 1 ½”. Many people find the treatment very relaxing, and often fall asleep!  Sometimes a little soreness in the treatment area can happen but generally dissipates within 24 hours of treatment. Proper rest and hydration is also recommended.

How safe is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a safe, all-natural, drug free therapy which yields no side effects. There is little danger of infection from the needles, which are sterile, used once and then discarded.

Here’s some of the benefits of acupuncture — less pain, better sleep, more energy, mental clarity, a stronger immune system, better digestion, less stress, less pain, and did we mention less pain?

How May Treatments Will I Need?

Acupuncture awakens your self-healing capabilities. The number of treatments varies from person to person. For some, relief will be immediate; others may take months or years to achieve results. Chronic conditions often take longer to resolve than acute ones. Plan on a minimum of a month of treatments to see significant change.

What Conditions Can Be Treated by Acupuncture? Can you help me?
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recognize acupuncture as an effective method of treatment for the following conditions:

Allergies, addiction, ankle pain, anxiety, appetite control, arthritis, asthma, Bell’s palsy, blood pressure, bronchitis, cancer, carpal tunnel, chronic fatigue, cluster headaches, colitis, common cold, constipation, dental pain, depression, diarrhea, digestive trouble, ear aches, emotional problems, eye problems, food allergies, facial palsy/tics, fatigue, fertility, fibromyalgia, fibroids, frozen shoulder, gastritis, GERD, gout, headache, heartburn, high blood pressure, hot flashes, heel pain, incontinence, indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome, jaw pain, joint pain, low back pain, Lyme disease, knee pain, menstrual problems, menopause, migraine, morning sickness, Morten’s neuroma, muscle pain, nausea, neck pain, osteoarthritis, pain, PMS, rheumatoid arthritis, reproductive problems, rhinitis, sciatica, shingles, shoulder pain, sinusitis, sleep disturbances, smoke cessation, sore throat, sports injuries, stiff neck, stress, tennis elbow, tendonitis, tooth pain, torticollis, trigeminal neuralgia, tmj, urinary tract, vomiting, weight loss, and wrist pain.

See yourself somewhere on that list? Wouldn’t it be nice to feel less stress, less pain?

A Strong Body Can Kick A Cold in the Teeth! Fight Back with Acupuncture!

A Healthy You with Acupuncture!

A Healthy You with Acupuncture!

We have all felt the warning signs — that scratchy feeling in the throat, the sudden sneezes, the drippy nose, followed by being ruled by your mucus, and a sudden need for super soft tissue. Millions have suffered from the common cold, and chances are good that you’ll catch at least one this year. The cold is the most common infectious disease in the human race. It is a disease of the upper respiratory system, caused by a viral infection. Symptoms include coughing, sore throat and increased mucus production (either a runny or stuffed nose). The average person suffers from 3-4 colds per year.

Although it has become a cliché, there is no cure for the common cold, but most symptoms are gone within 7-10 days, though some colds can last for weeks. People suffering from colds are extremely contagious — a regular routine of hand washing and avoiding situations where infected people are likely to spread germs are two important ways to prevent catching a cold.

If you are in a state of balance both within yourself and in relationship to the world that you live in, your resistance to illness will most likely be sufficient to keep you from contracting a cold or flu in the first place. We are exposed to viruses all the time, and often the people most likely to get sick have been under a lot of stress, are over-fatigued, have allergies, or are generally out of balance.

Acupuncture is a wonderful way to rebalance the body energies to optimize the immune system’s ability to keep you healthy and clear up a cold quickly. If you are susceptible to catching colds easily, know that studies have shown how acupuncture helps increase white blood cell count resulting in a boost to your immune system. With acupuncture, you will feel your sinuses clearing a lot even during the first treatment! Point sites will address the other causative tensions that got you susceptible in the first place. Few treatments – great results! If you have come down with a cold, it is also important to get adequate rest, a vacation from sources of stress, and good nutrition in the form of soups and fresh juices. People that receive regular acupuncture treatments get sick less often. If you have a cold or flu, acupuncture can help you recover more quickly. But prevention beats suffering it to begin with!

Tune Up Your Body for Autumn with Acupuncture!

Tune Up Your Body with Acupuncture!

As the seasons change, we are the most vulnerable to worsening of chronic diseases, such as asthma or allergies as well as acute illnesses, such as the common cold. Getting treated with acupuncture at this time of year is a great way to help your body adjust to the changes that happen with the seasons.

Acupuncture heals imbalances in your immune system and also restores energy channels that have become disrupted. When these channels are open, the immune function functions at an optimal level and your body stays healthy.

Did you know that you can live your life entirely cold-free without taking anything harmful into your system? People that receive regular acupuncture treatments get sick less often. Your immune system can heal itself the second an intruder sneaks in, preventing a cold from ever happening.

Scientifically, researchers have found that acupuncture enhances the production of natural killer cells, the body’s defense mechanisms against viruses and bacteria. Acupuncture also regulates the activity of white blood cells, which also fight against infection and allergic reactions. During cold and flu season, particularly for people susceptible to colds, it’s a good idea to boost your immune system every few weeks. The great benefits are that besides avoiding illness, you will see numerous positive side effects, such as a deeper sleep, clearer skin and a more relaxed and positive attitude.

Another foe of the body is stress. When stress gets out of control, it can manifest itself in a virtually unlimited number of ways, including headaches, muscle spasms, depression, insomnia, hypertension, and inappropriate social behavior. Increased heart rate, changes in breathing patterns, muscle tension and high blood pressure are common reactions from a change in brain chemistry that occurs with stress. And chronic stress can lead to serious health repercussions.

However, once again, acupuncture comes to the rescue! Acupuncture has been shown to greatly reduce stress. Acupuncture has the added benefit of re-uniting the body with the mind so that the flow of electricity, blood, lymph, and qi (life force) is harmonious in the body. The end result is a place of peace; a solid foundation for managing stress. The positive changes that occur as a result of an acupuncture session can last a long time, and are cumulative in effect.

There are many relevant point sites, and the choice depends on each person’s complete story of signs and symptoms. The treatment is gentle, painless, and relaxing. Lots of relief from even the first treatment!

Let your body become more in tune with the seasons, and let acupuncture help you make the transition!

Boost That Immune System with Acupuncture!

Acupuncture Clears Up Common Cold

Many Americans believe that catching two or three colds a year is normal. They endure the symptoms, often relieving them with over-the-counter medications that can cause serious health injury. They also take cold and flu shots, which can actually cause illness themselves. But did you know that you can live your life entirely cold-free without taking anything harmful into your system? Your immune system can heal itself the second an intruder sneaks in, preventing a cold from ever happening.

Colds arise from viruses. Viruses are everywhere, all the time. We don’t catch colds all the time, though, because our immune system keeps us healthy. It’s when our energy wanes and our immune system struggles that we become susceptible to viruses.

Diet plays an important role in keeping your immune system strong, and often minor adjustments will make a major difference in you staying healthy. I will look at your diet with you to recommend simple modifications for excellent immune system function. Chinese medicine practitioners and many traditional medical doctors, including Dr. Oz, recommend acupuncture as a natural way to boost your immune system, keeping it strong against intruders.

Acupuncture heals imbalances in your immune system and also restores energy channels that have become disrupted. When these channels are open, the immune function functions at an optimal level and your body stays healthy.
