Seriously Upset? Ease Digestive Complaints with Acupuncture

Don’t suffer from bloating or other digestive upsets!
Keep your body happy with acupuncture!

If indigestion, gas or bloating bother you more than just an occasional episode from overeating, acupuncture treatments can help!

Acupuncture heals the channels of the entire digestive system. It eases symptoms and discomfort immediately, relieving indigestion, stomach ache and acid reflux, heartburn, bloating and constipation.

Acupuncture is safe, natural, effective and drug-free, and is often more effective than prescription drugs.

In a 2007 University of Arizona study, people with chronic heartburn who didn’t respond to prescription antacids underwent acupuncture twice a week. Their symptoms improved far more than those of people who took a double dose of the drug. Their chest pain decreased 82 percent, heartburn dropped 83 percent, and acid reflux fell 77 percent.

Researchers found a decrease in stomach acid and that digestion sped up, so less acid backed up into the esophagus. “It also seems to reduce pain perception in the esophagus,” stated study coauthor Ronnie Fass, M.D.

Acupuncture is very helpful for many other common digestive disorders including:

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Diarrhea
  • Excess Gas
  • Ulcerative Colitis
  • Chron’s Disease
  • Celiac Disease

Acupuncture may also benefit patients who find their symptoms are brought on or worsened by stress, anxiety and emotional issues. Acupuncture works to relieve the body of these stressors by helping to calm the nerves, inducing a state of relaxation.

Help your digestive system get strong and stay strong with acupuncture!

Here’s some helpful tips to combat bloating:

Take a walk – It doesn’t have to be a long walk, just enough physical movement to help stimulate digestion.

Be sure to chew your food thoroughly – Eating quickly can cause air swallowing that leads to bloating. You can decrease bloating simply by chewing your food more. This puts less pressure on your spleen, the system responsible for digestion in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Drink warm liquids – Avoid drinking cold liquids, especially with meals. The digestive organs are made of smooth muscle, and muscles like warmth. Ingesting cold will weaken the digestive system. Warm liquids will help it relax and gain strength over time, reducing bloating. Drink most fluids between meals and to only have small sips at meal time.

Get Gentle, Holistic Relief from Digestive Issues with Acupuncture!

Looking for effective relief from stomach or digestive issues? Get acupuncture!

Summer is the season for cookouts, parties, and lots of food-laden festivities. A little indigestion can happen this time of year, but for some, however, serious digestive issues are year round.

Acid reflux, or heartburn, is a common digestive complaint affecting approximately 44 percent of the adult U.S. population at least once a month, and 20 percent feel it at least once a week. Acid reflux is also called gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, and it can lead to more serious problems. Often pregnant women experience GERD, partly because the stomach has less room and contents are more easily upset.

Many people undergo dangerous surgery to heal acid reflux or take drugs that list serious side effects: irregular heartbeats, seizures, trouble breathing and a severe intestinal condition called Clostridium difficile. The great news is that you don’t need to take any of these risks when you heal your heartburn the natural way.

A 2007 study in the journal, “Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, as well as a 2006 review in the Journal of Gastroenterology suggest that acupuncture may be a viable treatment option for gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, a chronic form of the condition.

Acupuncture heals the channels of the entire digestive system, curing the underlying causes of acid reflux. Acupuncture helps ease symptoms and discomfort immediately, and also relieves indigestion, and stomach ache.

Acupuncture may also benefit patients who find their symptoms are brought on or worsened by stress, anxiety and emotional issues. Acupuncture works to relieve the body of these stressors by helping to calm the nerves thus inducing a state of relaxation

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Diarrhea

  • Heartburn

The best part? The treatment is safe, natural, effective and drug-free.

From Heartburn to Constipation – Acupuncture Eases Digestive Complaints

A Happy, Healthy Belly with Acupuncture!

A Happy, Healthy Belly with Acupuncture!

Take control of your digestive health this summer with acupuncture!

If you are one of the 60-70 million people affected by some form of digestive disorder, there is safe, effective treatment!

Acupuncture can be a wonderful resource for feeling better now and maintaining those improvements over the long term.

Digestive function is a complex process, involving multiple organ systems, enzymes and hormones. Our digestive system is also home to many of the body’s immune cells. If our digestive system is not functioning properly, it needs to use enzymes normally associated with our immune system, thus weakening our immunity, and without proper elimination of waste products, the build up of toxic by-products in our body increases, leading to a greater chance of illness.

Poor digestive function can be affiliated with fatigue, accelerated aging, allergies, weak immune system and cancers, to a name a few.

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to help people gain digestive health, and heal while improving immunity!

Acupuncture is very helpful for many common digestive disorders including:

  • Acid Reflux
  • Constipation
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Diarrhea

In traditional Chinese medicine, disease is seen as an imbalance of qi, or vital energy, in the body. The placement of needles at different points in the body helps unblock and stimulate this flow of energy. Acupuncture works to help your body heal and resolve the problem. Treatment is based on each individual’s needs, which could include either an excess or deficiency of qi.

Acupuncture heals the channels of the entire digestive system. It eases symptoms and discomfort immediately, relieving indigestion, stomach ache and acid reflux, bloating and constipation. Acupuncture may also benefit patients who find their symptoms are brought on or worsened by stress, anxiety and emotional issues. Acupuncture works to relieve the body of these stressors by helping to calm the nerves thus inducing a state of relaxation. Acupuncture Helps Your Digestive System Feel Jolly!

Acupuncture for Digestive Health!

Acupuncture for Digestive Health!

When Holiday Feasting turns into Post-Holiday Digestive Nightmare, acupuncture brings the gift of relief!

Show of hands — how many people are feeling the aftermath of overindulging from the holidays?

Studies show between 60-70 million people are affected by some form of digestive disorder. When you figure in the holidays, and the average person taking in quite a bit more of that glazed ham/rib roast/tofurkey/baked fill-in-the-blank than they can handle, that’s a lot of aching digestive systems.

Happy life = happy guts!

Let Acupuncture give you the year-round gift of a happy digestive system!

Acupuncture has been used for a very, very long time to help people gain digestive health, and heal while improving immunity!

Acupuncture corrects the imbalances and regulates digestion. Acupuncture addresses the acute and immediate symptoms that are occurring in your digestive system. Acupuncture evaluates more of your history and other symptoms as well to get a greater understanding of your body’s condition, and will then choose other point sites located on your legs, arms, back, etc. to facilitate a deeper clearing and correction of the chronic symptoms you frequently experience. Food allergies, and sensitivities will improve.

Acupuncture will give immediate improvements, and a longer series of treatments will help to clear up really stubborn conditions with deeper and older causes.

Happy Halloween! Say “Boo” to Headaches (& Other Painful Bodily Occurrences)

Feel Fabulous Every Day of the Year with Acupuncture

Feel Fabulous Every Day of the Year with Acupuncture

Headaches, heartburn, back pain, neck pain — scary!
What do all of they have in common?
Acupuncture!

The other thing they have in common is that they can really ruin a party, vacation, or a work day. But you have an ally on your side.

Acupuncture is one of the most time-tested treatments known to mankind. It has been used for thousands of years to help sooth and heal these and many other complaints that make you go bump in the night, or grumble during the day.

First off, acupuncture is very effective at relieving headaches and migraines. Acupuncture always looks to the underlying causes as well, and thereby can help to prevent any future occurrences. Acupuncture offers powerful relief without the side effects that prescription and over-the-counter drugs can cause.

This is also good news for those of us who suffer from acid reflux, indigestion and stomach aches. Acupuncture heals the channels of the entire digestive system, curing the underlying causes of acid reflux. Acupuncture helps ease symptoms and discomfort immediately, relieving the acid reflux, indigestion, and stomach ache.

Acupuncture may also benefit acid reflux patients who find their symptoms are brought on or worsened by stress, anxiety and emotional issues. Acupuncture works to relieve the body of these stressors by helping to calm the nerves thus inducing a state of relaxation. Yay less stress! Yay relaxation!

Let Acupuncture Relieve Your Back Pain

Let Acupuncture Relieve Your Pain

Acupuncture is also a friend to your back and your neck, when you’ve sprained or strained yourself. Back pain is one of the most frequently treated symptoms, and most people experience great results.

This is also true for neck pain. Acupuncture will help speed the healing process. In addition, acupuncture is good at reducing the tension in the neck tendons and muscles. It can help relieve the pain and tightness in the neck by increasing the circulation of blood and energy.

Don’t be spooked! Acupuncture has a relaxing effect on many people and some even fall asleep during the treatment. Pain relief and relaxation – what a treat!

Happy Halloween!

When the Hunk of Burning Isn’t Love…Try Acupuncture for Heartburn!

Image

Acupuncture Relieves Heartburn!

Oh, romantic holidays…delicious steak dinners, elegant chocolates, expensive red wine. The heart is a’thumping…and then burning! That’s no way to start a romantic evening.

Acid reflux, or heartburn, is a common digestive complaint affecting approximately 44 percent of the adult U.S. population at least once a month, and 20 percent feel it at least once a week. It occurs when the sphincter of the lower esophagus does not close completely. As a result, stomach contents leak back into the esophagus and even up into the throat, causing a burning sensation. Because the esophagus and throat do not have the same sturdy lining as the stomach, they cannot endure the strong acids of the stomach and become injured.

Acid reflux is also called gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, and it can lead to more serious problems. Often pregnant women experience GERD, with up to 80 percent of moms-to-be suffering heartburn, stomach pain or discomfort, reflux, belching and bloating, partly because the stomach has less room and contents are more easily upset. Symptoms tend to worsen over time, and many women avoid taking medicine for fear of harming the developing fetus.

Many people undergo dangerous surgery to heal acid reflux or take drugs that list serious side effects: irregular heartbeats, seizures, trouble breathing and a severe intestinal condition called Clostridium difficile.

The great news is that you don’t need to take any of these risks when you heal your heartburn the natural way!

Acupuncture heals the channels of the entire digestive system, curing the underlying causes of acid reflux. Acupuncture helps ease symptoms and discomfort immediately, relieving indigestion, stomach ache and acid reflux. A 2007 study in the journal, “Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics”, as well as a 2006 review in the Journal of Gastroenterology suggest that acupuncture may be a viable treatment option for GERD.

Acupuncture may also benefit acid reflux patients who find their symptoms are brought on or worsened by stress, anxiety and emotional issues. Acupuncture works to relieve the body of these stressors by helping to calm the nerves thus inducing a state of relaxation.

Here are some tips that can further help you fight the acid attack!

– Enjoy your food! Take your time eating at the table, preferably with loved ones, instead of in front of a screen.

– Avoid caffeine and nicotine.

– Avoid foods heavy in sugar or fat, especially ice cream.

– Avoid fizzy foods.

– Avoid foods that you’ve noticed give you acid reflux, such as spicy foods, acidic foods such as tomatoes or oranges or gassy foods, such as Brussels sprouts.

– Stop eating several hours before bedtime. This can be done!

– Eat highly nutritious foods. These foods will reduce your cravings for “quick-fix” foods.

– Drink more water. Drink more water. Did we mention drink more water?

– Reduce the stresses in your life. Again, this can be done!

– Increase relaxation with yoga, meditation or Qi Gong.

– See your acupuncturist!

There is so much more in addition to digestive health that acupuncture can be helpful for. For more information, please visit us at www.ctacupuncture.com.

Why Haven’t You Tried Acupuncture? Let’s Explain the Fears Away…

Image

Curious about Acupuncture?

Acupuncture. You’re been reading about it. Some of your friends and family may have tried it. You’ve been thinking about picking up the phone…but there’s something keeping you back. Are you interested in trying acupuncture but really want some questions answered? Problem solved! Read on…

First and most pressing…Does it hurt?

Here’s the initial caveat — every person is different, and can have different reactions. The actual sensations caused by the needles vary. Some people feel a little pain as needles are inserted, but most patients feel no pain at all. The needles are tiny, just a bit larger than a cat’s whisker or human hair.

Image

Acupuncture needle, third from the top. Surprisingly small!

The depth of needle insertion varies depending on the area of the body to be treated. For example, a fleshier area of the body may require a different needling technique. Typically, needles are inserted at depths ranging from 1/8” to 1 ½”. Many people find the treatment very relaxing, and often fall asleep!  Sometimes a little soreness in the treatment area can happen but generally dissipates within 24 hours of treatment. Proper rest and hydration is also recommended.

How safe is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a safe, all-natural, drug free therapy which yields no side effects. There is little danger of infection from the needles, which are sterile, used once and then discarded.

Here’s some of the benefits of acupuncture — less pain, better sleep, more energy, mental clarity, a stronger immune system, better digestion, less stress, less pain, and did we mention less pain?

How May Treatments Will I Need?

Acupuncture awakens your self-healing capabilities. The number of treatments varies from person to person. For some, relief will be immediate; others may take months or years to achieve results. Chronic conditions often take longer to resolve than acute ones. Plan on a minimum of a month of treatments to see significant change.

What Conditions Can Be Treated by Acupuncture? Can you help me?
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recognize acupuncture as an effective method of treatment for the following conditions:

Allergies, addiction, ankle pain, anxiety, appetite control, arthritis, asthma, Bell’s palsy, blood pressure, bronchitis, cancer, carpal tunnel, chronic fatigue, cluster headaches, colitis, common cold, constipation, dental pain, depression, diarrhea, digestive trouble, ear aches, emotional problems, eye problems, food allergies, facial palsy/tics, fatigue, fertility, fibromyalgia, fibroids, frozen shoulder, gastritis, GERD, gout, headache, heartburn, high blood pressure, hot flashes, heel pain, incontinence, indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome, jaw pain, joint pain, low back pain, Lyme disease, knee pain, menstrual problems, menopause, migraine, morning sickness, Morten’s neuroma, muscle pain, nausea, neck pain, osteoarthritis, pain, PMS, rheumatoid arthritis, reproductive problems, rhinitis, sciatica, shingles, shoulder pain, sinusitis, sleep disturbances, smoke cessation, sore throat, sports injuries, stiff neck, stress, tennis elbow, tendonitis, tooth pain, torticollis, trigeminal neuralgia, tmj, urinary tract, vomiting, weight loss, and wrist pain.

See yourself somewhere on that list? Wouldn’t it be nice to feel less stress, less pain?
