Don’t suffer with arthritis – let acupuncture bring relief!

Arthritis is one of the most pervasive diseases in the United States and is the leading cause of disability. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one out of every three Americans (an estimated seventy million people) is affected.

Arthritis is a disease that affects the joints of the body. While medicine has identified over 100 different forms of arthritis, there are some symptoms that are common in every variety. These include pain, stiffness and inflammation, while extreme cases can even result in physical disfiguration. Other non-localized symptoms can include fatigue, insomnia, weight loss and fever.

In most cases arthritis is limited to one part of the body, typically the hands, feet, knees, hips or any of the major joints. Arthritis is also seen in auto-immune diseases like Lupus, Rheumatoid arthritis and Scleroderma and as a manifestation of problems in body chemistry as in Gout.

For most people, arthritis pain and inflammation cannot be avoided as the body ages. In fact, most people over the age of fifty show some signs of arthritis as joints degenerate over time. Fortunately, arthritis can often be managed with acupuncture.

Greater Mobility and Range of Motion with Acupuncture!

Greater Mobility and Range of Motion with Acupuncture!

Acupuncture decreases pain by increasing the release of endorphins, which are the morphine-like chemicals produced in our own bodies during times of pain or stress. Many acu-points are near nerves. When stimulated, these nerves cause a dull ache or feeling of fullness in the muscle. The stimulated muscle sends a message to the central nervous system, consisting of the brain and spinal cord, causing the release of those endorphins, which, along with other neurotransmitters, which are the chemicals that modify nerve impulses, block the message of pain from being delivered up to the brain.

We work with each patient to customize a treatment plan that can be tailored to their condition. Less pain, greater mobility and range of motion, as well as improved strength come quickly with a series of treatments, and best of all — it’s all drug free!
