Get Relief from Aches, Pains and Stress with Acupuncture

Does your body hurt from Spring cleaning, starting your garden, or exercising a bit too much?
Acupuncture takes away the aches and pains!

Spring is starting to show its beautiful face, and there’s a lot of work to be done around the home and garden. All this toil can really take its toll!

Many people suffer from back pain, in fact, back pain is one of the top reasons people seek medical treatment.

Back problems are also, by far, the primary reason for appointments with acupuncturists.

Back pain limits range of motion and complicates daily activities. Some back pain is accompanied by tingling and burning and acupuncture treatments work wonderfully for those conditions as well. Acupuncture can effectively help acute and chronic back pain and many other issues, like neck pain, naturally.

Relieve the aches and pains of gardening with acupuncture!

The neck is more subject to injury than any other portion of the spine. This is because of its position and range of motion, and because it plays such a vital role in the supporting the head.

There are so many tendons and connecting tissue structures that enable the movement of the neck and arms. In addition, and we also sometimes store our stress there.

Acupuncture works to relieve stress and pain throughout the whole body.

Acupuncture is very helpful and it’s quick. Often relief is felt at the first treatment, and usually only a few are necessary, unless longstanding injuries are the cause, in which case more treatments will be needed.

In addition, acupuncture is good at reducing the tension in the neck tendons and muscles. It has a relaxing effect on many people and some even fall asleep during the treatment. Stress relief is more important than ever.

With acupuncture, we look at your whole health history, sports traumas, falls, bumps and bruises, as well as all other stories, and tailor a treatment specifically to your needs. The body likes to remember its history to help protect you. Acupuncture helps to reduce the residual effects that linger, sometimes for years.

Back and neck pain are two of the most frequently treated symptoms, and most people experience great results. Many patients feel immediate improvements.

Acupuncture treatments are painless and gentle. Our offices are clean, healthy, and peaceful places to be.

The best part? The treatment is safe, natural, effective and drug-free.

Acupuncture is a Back-To-School Essential!

Back to school! Acupuncture can help boost your immune system, relieve stress and so much more!

Summer’s almost over, and school is starting — wouldn’t it be nice to know you have all the school supplies you and your family needs? (Including more energy, more focus, less stress and better sleep?)

Sounds like a lot to pack in a lunch box? Of course it does. But it’s not too much to expect from regular acupuncture treatments.

Other than stress relief, one of the biggest benefits of acupuncture is the immunity boost it gives you. The likelihood of either you or your child getting sick when kids head back to school increases significantly. Acupuncture boosts your immune system, which can greatly reduce the risk of coming down with the “Illness of the Week”.

In addition to the immunity boost, many people report having more energy in the hours, days and even weeks after acupuncture treatment. In addition to the surge of physical energy, many people notice improved mental clarity, which is important when exam week comes around, or that big presentation.

Don’t stress out! When those deadlines and tests get a bit overwhelming, acupuncture is great at relieving headaches, (even migraines) as well as reducing anxiety, depression and stress.

Insomnia is one of the most common complaints by students, teachers, and parents alike, and acupuncture can be highly effective at resolving that as well.

Acupuncture is also great for student athletes! Besides keeping the body healthy, well-documented studies have proven over and over the effects of acupuncture in reduction of pain. This is due in part to the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkiller, along with an increase in blood circulation and lessening of muscle tension.

Relief of pain, stress and anxiety, immunity bolstering, and more energy? Acupuncture gets an A+!

Don’t Suffer — Get PMS Relief With Acupuncture!

Acupuncture loves your body!

Looking for an effective way to relieve PMS symptoms? Acupuncture restores harmony to your body!

Hormone levels naturally fluctuate during the menstrual cycle, and that variation is perfectly normal. However, the stress, discomfort and anxiety that arise from your changing hormone levels can interfere with everyday life, making it feel anything but normal — sometimes even aggravating and painful!

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) occurs in the seven to ten days before menstruation and disappears shortly after it begins. Its symptoms include nervousness, irritability, depression, headaches, water retention and bloating, digestive issues, and sore breasts.

Let’s call upon acupuncture.

Acupuncture is extremely effective at treating menstrual disorders including: painful periods, irregular periods, amenorrhea, as well as PMS.With its balancing effects, acupuncture restores harmony to the hormonal and energy systems of the body, healing the causes of PMS. It’s also excellent at relieving symptoms of stress of all kinds.

The end result? You feel better, your mood improves, your headache goes away and your energy returns. If you suffer any discomfort during menses, such as cramps or nausea, acupuncture will ease these symptoms for you as well.

Whether it’s easing PMS or alleviating painful cramps, try acupuncture for effective relief!

Other Ways to Reduce the Symptoms of PMS

Take time to relax!

Take time to relax!

  • Balanced nutrition is crucial for overcoming PMS. Up your intake of fruits, veggies, and whole grains and cut back on sugar, artificial sweeteners, fat, and salt.
  • Limit your alcohol intake, as well as caffeine throughout your cycle. Alcohol can make feelings of depression worse. Reducing caffeine may also minimize breast tenderness and irritability.
  • Drink plenty of water, or herbal teas. Many find chamomile tea soothing.
  • Exercise! You may not want to, but get in your workout anyway. The endorphin rush will help relieve cramps and raise your levels of serotonin.
  • Try to relax! Many find that yoga, deep breathing, or meditation really helps.

Many people turn to food for comfort, or when they’re bored. Emotional eating is eating as a way to suppress or soothe negative emotions, such as stress, anger, fear, boredom, sadness and loneliness. Negative emotions can be triggered by both major life events and the stresses of daily life, such as job loss, money problems, health isssues, relationship issues, work stress, or fatigue.

The good news is that if you’re prone to emotional eating, you can take steps to regain control of your eating habits and get back on track with your weight-loss goals. Acupuncture!

Acupuncture affects physical wellness, as well as the emotional and mental aspects of weight loss. Acupuncture will bring your individual physiology back into balance and strengthen your digestive system. This helps your metabolism and appetite while eliminating unhealthy food cravings or patterns of over-eating. Acupuncture also addresses symptoms such as abdominal bloating, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, and reflux.

Let acupuncture help you get those cravings under control!

Acupuncture stimulates the body to release endorphins, the body’s own “feel-good” chemicals. That increased level of endorphins is also helpful in curbing your cravings.

Acupuncture works to clear the mind, build energy, and give a sense of well being and relaxation. The best part? There are no harmful side effects and no possibility for addiction.

Stop the cycle of emotional eating! Acupuncture can help with digestive problems, appetite control, weight loss, emotional and food related issues as well as a range of other health problems.

Fore! Acupuncture Great for Golfers

Improve Your Golf Game with Acupuncture

Don’t let pain or stiffness hold you back from playing your best game. Get back to the full swing of things with acupuncture!

You have the equipment, the membership, the gorgeous weather, the awesome outfit. As you know, a calm and healthy body and mind is essential to a great golf game. And now, acupuncture can help you to bring your game to the next level.

While golf is not generally a high-impact sport, there can be issues that arise. The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) has discovered the average golfer plays 37 rounds a year and is practicing more and more, so while they are improving their game, they are risking acute and chronic problems, specifically from strained muscles, repetitive motions and inflammation.

Acupuncture increases your flexibility on the golf course!

Acupuncture increases flexibility!

In addition, the factors of age, stress, tension and sedentary jobs can inhibit flexibility and range of motion, which can also directly impact a golfer’s game, potentially leading to injuries.

Acupuncture treats many different common conditions including low back pain, golfers elbow, rotator cuff injuries, hip pain, golfer’s elbow, neck and upper back pain, knee pain, and more.

Acupuncture also emphasizes the mind/body connection so that more than just a physical improvement, players can also benefit from better concentration and less stress and tension.

So golfers, here are some of the best benefits of getting acupuncture!

  • Endorphins! Acupuncture releases those lovely chemicals that is our body’s natural way to kill pain.
  • Relaxes muscle spasms, and calms nerve irritation.
  • Releases your body’s natural steroids which reduce inflammation, which can lead to a better swing.
  • Improves blood flow and promotes faster healing.
  • Memory improvement – Remember that VP’s name on the 9th hole!
  • Regulation of hormones and body functions. A good thing.
  • Eliminates stress and elevates your mood. Nobody likes a golf club flying through the air!
  • Better sleep.
  • Improves your flexibility and range of motion. Again, a better and more consistent swing!
  • Enhances your immune system, which is useful if you’re shaking a lot of hands (after you win!).

So whether you are new to golf, and are looking to improve your game, or are dealing with a golf-related injury you would like help with, try acupuncture!

Top Five Reasons To Get Acupuncture This Summer

happy beach coupleBe Healthy and Happy All Summer Long with Acupuncture!

In Chinese medicine, summer is associated with the element of fire, and rightly so. The fiery summer months are when everything in nature has expanded to its peak, and characteristics of the fire element include joy, communication, and connection. So it’s a perfect match when we are celebrating summer with friends, good food, and fun!

However, with all the sun, this fire element can be too much of a good thing. Summer can also bring about some common health ailments, and the heat can make some conditions worse. Acupuncture can definitely help you enjoy the season more, improve your health and overall sense of well-being. But that’s not all!

Here’s the top five reasons why you should get acupuncture this summer.

Reason Number One: Allergy Relief! Enjoy the flowers without the sneezing! Acupuncture is excellent at bringing relief from allergies. Grasses, ragweed, and pollutants can really make seasonal allergies flare up. Acupuncture can bring relief in often just one session.

Reason Number Two: Acupuncture Soothes Rosacea Symptoms. Heat and humidity can make Rosacea flare up, and acupuncture systemically reduces the inflammation response in the body. It also stimulates the brain to release serotonin and endorphins, which work to reduce stress levels, which in turn assists with reducing symptoms.

Reason Number Three: Sunburn — Acupuncture Beats the Heat. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, sunburn is a trapping of damp heat in the skin that must be treated by releasing the heat and soothing the accompanying pain. In addition, acupuncture can also give the immune system a boost, and relieve the general fatigue and malaise often present after a major sun exposure.

Enjoy the beach, and remember the sunscreen!

Reason Number Four: Get That Beach Body! Acupuncture works as an appetite suppressant, aids in digestion, and helps boost your metabolism. Acupuncture helps balance hormones, and decreases the hormones that contribute to weight gain. Regular acupuncture treatments have also been shown to help tone and shrink the stomach muscle, and this helps you feel full faster.

Reason Number Five: RELAXATION. Acupuncture helps to release neurotransmitters such as endorphins. They are our “feel good” hormones that invite relaxation and peacefulness during treatments. Acupuncture is a fantastic way to release built up stress, and head off tension before it starts to cause trouble.

Summer is here for such a short time — why not let acupuncture help you enjoy it to the fullest?

Summer is for Relaxing! Acupuncture Eases Anxiety and Stress

Don't Let Stress Get You Down! Acupuncture Reduces Anxiety

Don’t Let Stress Get You Down! Acupuncture Reduces Anxiety

Are you interested in a holistic approach to managing stress and anxiety? Acupuncture works!

Anxiety is a completely normal human emotion. Many people feel nervous or anxious when faced with work problems, before taking an exam, or making a challenging life decision. It’s a perfectly normal reaction to stress.

So what exactly is stressing us out? Whenever we experience a thought or event that we perceive as stressful, our bodies produce hormones and neurotransmitters that help us respond to the stressful situation by engaging in a conflict or fleeing.

This “fight or flight” response is important for motivating us to take action and avoid danger when necessary.  It is meant to be a short-term reaction to a situation that may be life-threatening. With continued or repeated stress without adequate time and resources for our bodies to recover, the “fight or flight” response can become chronic, and can interfere with someone’s ability to lead a normal life.

Acupuncture Helps You Relax!

Acupuncture Helps You Relax

Distress can disturb the body’s internal balance or equilibrium, leading to physical symptoms. Emotional problems can also result from distress. In the United States, anxiety disorders affect about 40 million adults — women twice more than men.

Acupuncture is a powerful treatment for relieving anxiety.

Acupuncture treats your mental, emotional and physical symptoms.  It helps relieve the headaches, upset stomach, chest pain, sexual dysfunction, muscle aches, insomnia, and irritability that anxiety and stress can cause, as well as reducing blood pressure.

The resulting effect from acupuncture is a feeling of relaxation, calm and an overall sense of well-being. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?

Avoid Dehydration — Acupuncture Refreshes!

Avoid dehydration - drink more water and get acupuncture!

Avoid dehydration – drink more water and get acupuncture!

Are you dehydrated? Drink your water, and get acupuncture!

Summer’s here, and it’s easy to get dehydrated. Water is so important to our body. Water fills empty spaces and transports blood cells. It dissolves all the body solids and increases oxygen to the cells. It is the glue that keeps the solid parts of cells together, is the main source of energy production and also regulates energy by osmotic balancing. Everything in your body needs water to live.

Unfortunately, thirst isn’t always a reliable source of the body’s need for water, especially for children and older adults. Water is lost from the body from sweating, urinating, breathing, and bowel movements. How do you know if you’re dehydrated? Consider your personal color instead  — a better gauge is the color of your urine. Clear or light-colored urine means you’re well hydrated, whereas a dark yellow or amber color usually signals dehydration.

Time to drink more water! Here’s what can happen if you don’t…

Mild to moderate dehydration is likely to cause:

  • Dry, sticky mouth
  • Sleepiness or tiredness — children are likely to be less active than usual
  • Thirst
  • Decreased urine output
  • Few or no tears when crying
  • Dry skin
  • Headache
  • Constipation
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness

Severe dehydration, a medical emergency, can cause:

  • Extreme thirst
  • Extreme fussiness or sleepiness in infants and children; irritability and confusion in adults
  • Very dry mouth, skin and mucous membranes
  • Little or no urination — any urine that is produced will be darker than normal
  • Sunken eyes
  • Shriveled and dry skin that lacks elasticity and doesn’t “bounce back” when pinched into a fold
  • In infants, sunken fontanels — the soft spots on the top of a baby’s head
  • Low blood pressure
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Rapid breathing
  • No tears when crying
  • Fever
  • In the most serious cases, delirium or unconsciousness

So obviously, we need to pay attention to our hydration levels! When dehydration has occurred, acupuncture can help restore balance.

You can eat your water! About 20% of our daily H2O intake comes from solid foods, especially fruits and vegetables.

You can eat your water! Fresh produce like tomatoes, watermelons and oranges are high in water.

When an acupuncture needle is inserted, it results in increased heat, which results in increased blood flow, and it results in an increase in water to the damaged cells that cause pain. Acupuncture and water work as a team to help heal your body. By increasing the content of water to the damaged cells cellular healing occurs.

The following organs as important team players in the role of creating and moving blood: Spleen, Stomach, Heart, Lung, and Liver. Blood needs water to move. If blood does not function properly, then qi (or Life Force) cannot move well either.

Acupuncture isn’t just for dehydration — allergies, arthritis, and high blood pressure are also alleviated with acupuncture.

From Heartburn to Constipation – Acupuncture Eases Digestive Complaints

A Happy, Healthy Belly with Acupuncture!

A Happy, Healthy Belly with Acupuncture!

Take control of your digestive health this summer with acupuncture!

If you are one of the 60-70 million people affected by some form of digestive disorder, there is safe, effective treatment!

Acupuncture can be a wonderful resource for feeling better now and maintaining those improvements over the long term.

Digestive function is a complex process, involving multiple organ systems, enzymes and hormones. Our digestive system is also home to many of the body’s immune cells. If our digestive system is not functioning properly, it needs to use enzymes normally associated with our immune system, thus weakening our immunity, and without proper elimination of waste products, the build up of toxic by-products in our body increases, leading to a greater chance of illness.

Poor digestive function can be affiliated with fatigue, accelerated aging, allergies, weak immune system and cancers, to a name a few.

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to help people gain digestive health, and heal while improving immunity!

Acupuncture is very helpful for many common digestive disorders including:

  • Acid Reflux
  • Constipation
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Diarrhea
  • Bloating/excess gas
  • Heartburn
  • Ulcerative Colitis
  • Chron’s Disease
  • Celiac Disease
Have a healthy summer with acupuncture!

Have a healthy summer with acupuncture!

In traditional Chinese medicine, disease is seen as an imbalance of qi, or vital energy, in the body. The placement of needles at different points in the body helps unblock and stimulate this flow of energy. Acupuncture works to help your body heal and resolve the problem. Treatment is based on each individual’s needs, which could include either an excess or deficiency of qi.

Acupuncture heals the channels of the entire digestive system. It eases symptoms and discomfort immediately, relieving indigestion, stomach ache and acid reflux, bloating and constipation. Acupuncture may also benefit patients who find their symptoms are brought on or worsened by stress, anxiety and emotional issues. Acupuncture works to relieve the body of these stressors by helping to calm the nerves thus inducing a state of relaxation. A relaxed body, and a happy, healthy digestive system!
