Beat Fatigue with Acupuncture!

Beat Fatigue with Acupuncture!

Run down, worn out, exhausted and tired, and not just at the end of the week…? Acupuncture can help!

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (also referred to as CFS) is the medical name for a series of disorders that is characterized by a persistent feeling of fatigue that is not caused by lack of sleep or by excessive physical activity, as well as a wide range of accompanying symptoms, some very uncomfortable, including muscle pain, trouble focusing, and, ironically enough, insomnia.

CFS can happen over time or suddenly come about. People who get CFS over time get more and more tired over weeks or months, suddenly feel fine one day and then feel extremely tired the next. The extreme tiredness may come and go, and in some cases the extreme tiredness never goes away.

Because CFS is a multi-faceted disease, it often takes several visits to medical professionals to finally diagnose. CFS can affect people of any age, however, it’s most common between the ages of 25 and 45. Besides being difficult to diagnose, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome can last for years, and there is no known cure. There is a virus that has been associated with chronic fatigue, the Epstein Barr virus (best known as the cause of infectious mononucleosis). Some people with CFS say it started after a time of great stress, such as the loss of a loved one or major surgery.

After a prolonged illness, fatigue can be a lingering symptom. When the body fluids have a lower ph than 6.8, as measured in the saliva or urine, fatigue, tiredness, headaches, insomnia, pain, and tension may be the resulting signs. Symptoms of CFS vary widely from person to person and may be serious or mild. Most symptoms cannot be seen by others, which makes it hard for friends, family members, and the public to understand the challenges a person with CFS faces.

There is no reason to suffer needlessly from Chronic Fatigue, and instead feel relaxed, energized and feel less pain. Acupuncture is very helpful in the treatment of the symptoms as well as in the underlying causes of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

A thorough history, and an individual approach in the choice of point sites will usually give immediate positive results. Spleen and Kidney energetic systems are considered, as well as abdomen and upper back point sites, as chronic fatigue syndrome involves kidney-adrenal exhaustion, spleen-stomach digestion deficiency, liver stagnation and blockage — over taxation of one’s vital energy resources.

Acupuncture works to resolve those issues, and corrects any imbalances. Acupuncture analysis includes a peek at the tongue, as well as checking the pulses. Improving the diet is always a good idea, including organic foods supplemented with digestive enzymes and many patients find that a gluten-free, low inflammatory diet assists as well. Meditation and gentle exercise is also helpful, but patients feel a more immediate, energy-boosting change with acupuncture.

The most noticeable benefits of acupuncture for CFS include:

  • Less pain
  • Better sleep
  • Relaxation
  • Enhanced immune system
  • Better overall health
